Let's get that fishing license, so we can fish safely, and legally. It only takes a few minutes to apply and purchase your license. States vary on the age in which the angler must obtain a fishing license, even if they are not a resident of the state that they are fishing. However, even the angler is not a resident of said state, they must obtain and follow the states in which they are fishing, laws and regulation. It can mean the difference between fun fishing, or a fine and jail time. Purchase your fishing license today, and get out on the water...it's time to fish.
Visit your State's DNR website to purchase your Fishing License online. You can also visit numerous sporting stores (ex. Dunhams, Dicks Sporting Good, Bass Pro Shops, etc.), and even some retail stores (ex. Walmart, Meijer), as they may also sell in-person Fishing Licenses.
Once you have your Fishing License, you are require to keep your ID and Fishing License with you, while fishing. DNR officers can ask for this information at anytime. Failure to provide to be have with it, could result in fines.

Canada Fishing License
If fishing in Canada, both residences and non-residences are required to obtain an Outdoor Card, before they can officially purchase their fishing/hunting license. Outdoor Cards are valid for three calendar years. However, if you want to purchase a one-day Canadian fishing license, you do not need to purchase and Outdoor Card.
